Honolua is originally awarded to William C. Lunalilo with Land Commission Award No. 8559:23B by King Kamehameha III on June 19, 1852. This award was given by the King with allodial title to Lunalilo and his heirs.

The metes and bounds of this award are, as was required by law included in the LCA and is for 3,860 acres.

When asked to furnish their title for this area MLP furnished us with the deed that is recorded at the Bureau of Conveyances in Book 115 on page 60. The deed is from Ruth Keelikolani to Samuel Parker.

However, if you read the deed it does not on any page mention the name or word Honolua. Although it does convey several pieces of land throughout Hawaii it does not convey Honolua!

Again not a lawyer but you can not own something that was not given to you. According to the Hawaii Revised Statutes the land belongs to the heirs of Lunalilo.
